Holiday Inn Runcorn

Check in was quick and easy although there was no information given about the hotel eg pool opening times other than dinner may be busy due to several coach parties being booked in. The room was clean and tidy and there was a nice handwritten note welcoming us alongside 1 single serve pack of digestive biscuits even though the booking was for 2 people. The bathroom had 2 large dispensers for shampoo and shower gel but the shampoo bottle was empty and this was only discovered once in the room. There was air conditioning which was appreciated due to the rare appearance of the British sun that day but unfortunately the unit itself was very noisy whilst running so needed to be turned off overnight. Beds were comfy and there was the option to order additional pillows from reception that wasn't needed. Check out was quick and easy and the staff did try to help us answer a question about a local bus route to aid us on our onward journey but unfortunately they did not have this local knowledge.

Good location to Chester and Manchester if you drive. Perfect for a stop if you plan to drive from north to south or south to north and make a stop in here to take a break.

This place is quite far away and not easy to get to the city centre, wouldn't recommend staying here if you don't have a car

Stayed at this hotel for a night. The location is nice up on the hill and surrounded by greenery. Service was excellent at the front desk and the restaurant. I like the breakfast a lot with food served at the right temperature. Variety is adequate. It is however a different story inside the rooms. One room has the floor lamp not working at all and curtains hanging without the hooks. The shower head was dripping in another room. Dust was all around the outlets of the air-conditioning unit and inside the lamp shades. The shower is so poorly designed that one cannot keep the bathroom floor dry at all after taking a shower. The rotten wood at the bottom of the bathroom door should give some hints. There are not many hotel choices in Runcorn. If the cleanliness can be improved this would be a very nice hotel.

This is the first and last time I’ll stay here and is probably the worst IHG hotel I have stayed in Only stayed as it was close to a work meeting but for the amount I paid I feel robbed Bad from the moment I walked in - only one reception desk on and a big queue really isn’t on Strange set up , was given a first floor room only to find out later it was two floors down from reception and the lift doesn’t stop at this floor. Receptionist didn’t even ask if I had an issue with stairs but plenty may have a problem carrying luggage up and down four flights of stairs and at least reception should ask Room is tiny and dated and I saw plenty of insects in it, two spiders and two I assume baby moths, clearly someone has had the windows open to let them in. The window is covered in moths and other insects on the outside. These rooms should have net curtains to stop insects getting in from woods if you open the window Couldn’t swing a cat in the bathroom and I’d say if your over 5 foot you won’t be using the tiny bath The bar menu is a rip off and therefore we went out to eat to a nearby pub This place either needs serious money spent on it or knocked down and rebuilt and most certainly is not worth the money paid and I’d advise others to stay somewhere else

This hotel is really tired and the only fix is to knock it down. It is a mix of secondary school style corridors mix with rooms that belong in Pontins. The first room I had smelt of damp. The second room had seen better days. Cannot believe IHG put their name to this property. I really feel for the staff as they are clearly fighting a loosing battle. Look elsewhere.
